Admission requirements and eligibility criteria

Applicants are categorised into three pathways based on their previous study background and work experience as indicated below and course structure and length is set accordingly. Please refer to the online handbook at handbook.uws.edu.au/ hbook/ for admission details for each ICT program.

Applicants seeking admission on the basis of work experience MUST support their application with a Statement of Service for all work experience listed on the application.

Pathway A - Applicants with non-computing/non-ICT/ non-information systems (IS) with Bachelor qualifications: Must have a minimum three year undergraduate degree in any discipline OR approved diploma in ICT/computing/ IS fields AND minimum five years full-time equivalent work experience in information and communications technologies which includes experience in applying skills in: programming, networking; database design and development, systems analysis and design, and project management.

Pathway B - Applicants with non-computing/non-ICT/noninformation systems with Honours or Masters qualifications: Must have an Honours or Masters qualification in any discipline.

Pathway C - Applicants with computing/ICT/ information systems (IS) Bachelor qualifications: Must have a minimum three year undergraduate degree in Information and Communication Technologies, Computing or Information Systems disciplines; or minimum three year undergraduate degree in any discipline AND minimum of five years full-time equivalent work experience in information and communications technologies which includes experience in applying skills in: programming, networking; database design and development, systems analysis and design, and project management; or minimum three year undergraduate degree in any discipline AND a Graduate Diploma in ICT or Postgraduate Diploma in ICT offered prior to 2015 at UWS or equivalent qualifications from any other approved tertiary education institution; OR minimum three year undergraduate degree in any discipline AND Graduate Diploma in ICT offered after 2015 at UWS or equivalent qualifications from any other approved tertiary education institutional. Applicants with Computing/ICT/IS Honours or Masters qualifications must have an Honours or Masters qualification in Information and Communication Technologies, Computing or Information Systems disciplines.

English language requirement: IELTS / TOEFL / PTE scores:

IELTS (Academic version only): 6.5 overall (min 6.0* in each band). TOEFL (Paper based score): Total 575 (min 4.5 in TWE*). TOEFL (Internet based score): Total 89, writing 21and all subtests 18.

* You will be required to enrol in the six week intensive Advanced Academic English Skills - Module A: Reading and Writing at UWSCollege if you achieve: a) the required IELTS overall score but your band score in reading and writing is below the required score b) the required overall TOEFL score but either have not taken the Test of Written English (TWE) or have less than 5 TWE.
