Working after you study in Australia and working while you complete your course in Australia
Like most international students, you are probably wondering if you can work while you complete your Masters in Australia.
Well, international students are usually allowed to work upto 40 hours per fortnight while their course is "in session" and for unlimited hours when their course is "out of session". However, keep in my mind that you can only start working once your course has commenced. There are a few other rules that you need to be aware of and we recommend that you visit this site and familiarise yourself with them.
And now we come to the most important part - your work rights after you complete your course.
As an international student, you may be eligible for a 2 year post-study work permit in Australia as long as you complete Masters programs that meet certain criteria. Usually, you will have to complete recognised Masters programs and have at least two years of academic study in Australia. Again, there are a few other rules that your course needs to meet in order for you to be eligible for a post-study work visa and we recommend that you go here for more information.
Are scholarships available for this program? We are often asked this question and here is the good news: Yes, a majority of the Australian universities listed above are currently offering scholarships for their Engineering programs.
And what is the amount of the scholarship? Well, the scholarship amount varies and can depend upon the university that you choose as well as your individual background.
Some universities take a graded approach when it comes to scholarships. For instance, they will offer a $10,000 scholarship to students who have an average score of 60% in their undergraduate studies and a $14,000 scholarship to students who have an average score of 70% in their undergraduate studies. Some universities, on the other hand, will offer a standard scholarship amount to all students who meet the minimum eligibility criteria for the scholarship.
Some universities (not all) will also use other factors, such as, interviews, essays, extra-curricular activities and more to decide if you are eligible or not.
